Love salad, but hate the additives and preservatives in the salad dressing?
Here’s a simple salad dressing recipe you can make at home and it’s so easy.
Balsamic Vinaigrette Ingredients:
½ cup olive oil
¼ cup balsamic vinaigrette
Salt and pepper to taste
1 garlic clove, minced
Optional additions: 1 tsp mustard, shallots, dried herbs, a spoonful of honey
Place ingredients in a jar with a lid and shake vigorously.
Add to your favorite salad and enjoy.
Oscar Wilde said, “To make a good salad is to be a brilliant diplomatist–the problem is entirely the same in both cases. To know exactly how much oil to put with one’s vinegar”.
Tweet that.
Maybe Oscar Wilde didn’t know how much oil to put with one’s vinegar … but you do.

Your recipe shows oil to vinegar ratio at 2:1, but the highlighted tweet comment shows it as 3:1… FYI.
Hi Nancy! Such astute readership is greatly appreciated. The recipe has what seems like too much oil to me, but the general rule of thumb holds true for most recipes. If you try the recipe please comment back as to which way you like it best. Glad for great readers like you. Thanks!
Having made a shift in my life toward wellness, I have found that I really do like simple things like this. Salad dressings in particular were one of the things that drove me nuts because it was hard to find a good one that wasn’t full of sugar or some other garbage. Balsamic vinaigrette is soooo yummy. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
Hi Shannon! So glad you like the salad dressing recipe. You are correct that many brands on the shelf have a lot of additives and other hidden ingredients. I like to keep health uncomplicated whenever possible. Thanks for your time to read and comment.
